Feedback does not transfer responsibility

A bounded excerpt from 2.3 Feedback Loops.

The purpose is to examine the founders' assumptions about the customer's problem and whether the basic solution matters enough to be used or purchased.

When a customer asks for a specific feature, you can therefore ask: - What is the person trying to do? - What prevents them from doing it now? - How do they solve it without the feature?

The customer owns their experience. The company owns the decision about the solution.

The Startup Compass

You should not dismiss the customer's suggestion, but you should understand the problem behind it before you build it into everyone else's future.

Feedback is not a democratic vote in which the most frequent request automatically wins.
