Look at the illustration. The black lines are problems that lie in the direction you are trying to move. The gray line quickly finds a way around them. The green line heads straight toward the problem and tries to open a way through it. From a distance, the gray movement can look more efficient because it moves on faster. But getting around a problem is not the same as making it disappear.
